For my latest university project i was told to illustrate the Paradise Motel by Eric McCormack. It was a novel from 1989 that has since gone out of print. It is hard to place a genre to the book but it is something between horror and mystery. It is packed full with great imagery for me to draw so it was a very good book.
This character was a performer in a setting that seems to be Barbados. He has these needles put through his body in specific locations to avoid his internal organs. People place bets on the record number of needles he can reach, but with each new needle comes more risk. Not sure what I think about this drawing, I could definitely do it again better/different pose but at least this one looks crooked and weird.
Note:I haven't put a mature filter on this but if anyone thinks that I should then I will, no problem.
